Cement bound mineral mixtures

EN 14227-1:2013 – Hydraulically bound mixtures — Specification — Part 1: Cement bound mineral mixtures include requirements, testing methods and compliance criteria for cement bound mineral mixtures (compliant with the EN 197-1 standard requirements) that are used in the construction and maintenance of roads, airports and other traffic surfaces. Properties of cement bound mineral mixtures (CBGMs) that are related to the properties of their component materials, mixtures and properties of samples of produced mixtures are also defined.

NOTE: In addition to the above requirements, cement bound mineral mixtures may also have other requirements that are not included in this document, and may be required by national regulations. These are the following:

  • resistance to frost
  • compactness (as defined in EN 14227-2)
  • usability period (defined in line with EN 13286-45)
  • current load index (measured in line with EN 13286-47)
  • other requirements under this document that are subject of national regulations

Blast furnace slag bound mineral mixtures

EN 14227-2:2013 – Hydraulically bound mixtures — Specification — Part 2: Blast furnace slag bound mineral mixtures include specifications for blast furnace slag bound mixtures for roads, airports and other traffic surfaces, and define requirements in terms of component materials, composition and laboratory classification based on the mechanical properties of the mixture. In this document, blast furnace slag refers to the slag obtained in the iron and steel industry.

Fly ash bound mineral mixtures

EN 14227-3:2013 – Hydraulically bound mixtures — Specification — Part 3: Fly ash bound mineral mixtures include specifications for fly ash bound mixtures for roads, airports and other traffic surfaces, and define requirements in terms of component materials, composition and laboratory classification based on the mechanical properties of the mixture. In this document fly ash refers to silicate or calcium fly ash that complies with EN 14227-4 requirements. If the fly ash is an ingredient of cement compliant with EN 197-1 or a component of a hydraulic road binder compliant with EN 13282-1 or EN 13282-2, then reference should be made to EN 14227-1 and EN 14227-5.

EN 14227-4:2013 – Hydraulically bound mixtures — Specification — Part 4: Fly ash for hydraulically bound mixtures does not include hydraulically bound mineral mixtures – HBM. As the title says, this section defines requirements for silicate and calcium fly ash, used in hydraulically bound mixtures.

Hydraulic road binder bound mixtures

EN 14227-5:2013 – Hydraulically bound mixtures — Specification — Part 5: Hydraulic road binder bound mineral mixtures include specifications for mixtures bound by specific hydraulic road binders (compliant with EN 13282 standard series requirements), which are applied on roads, airports and other traffic surfaces, and define requirements in terms of component materials, composition and laboratory classification of performances.

Soil stabilized with hydraulic binder

EN 14227-15:2015 – Hydraulically bound mixtures — Specification — Part 15: Soil stabilized by hydraulic binders includes specifications for soil stabilized by hydraulic binders for roads, airports and other traffic surfaces, and defines requirements for their ingredients, composition, and laboratory classification of performances. This standard includes soil stabilization by treating one ingredient or a combination of ingredients (cement, fly ash, hydraulic road binder, lime, or blast furnace slag).
